Objectives:

The main objective of the program has been to provide financial benefits to the deserving class of society. Another significant objective of the program is to improve the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Structure of Ehsaas Program

1. Waseela-e-Taleem Digital :

The first name of the Updated list of Ehsaas Programs is Waseela-e-Taleem Digital. The government of Pakistan wishes for every child to get a proper education. Mainly due to poverty, a considerable percentage of the people are not able to get an education. Therefore, the government has announced various projects that will help deserving children get free education.

Waseela-e-Taleem Digital

The government introduced one such program called Waseela-e- Taleem in 2012 in a few districts. However, now, this program has been expanded all over the country. Previously, this program faced many challenges, including high clerical costs, high error and fraud rates due to manually entering data, a weak monitoring system for compliance, and less stipend money.

Over the last two years, new and thorough reforms have been introduced that have brought positive outcomes. These reforms consist of 4 main points:

First – many processes are end-to-end digitalized; the staff uses apps for the registration and to monitor compliance.

Second – the operational cost has been reduced from 8 percent to 3 percent due to the cost-effective modifications in the institutional infrastructure for the expansion of the program. Another reason is the non-reliance on the NGOs.

Third – according to Ehsaas’s new stipend policy, the amount of stipend given to the children has been increased. The children belonging to low-income families are given grants of Rs. 1,500 (for a boy child) and Rs. 2,000 per part (for a girl child) on maintaining 70 % of attendance in school.

Fourth – the program has been expanded to all the districts of Pakistan.

2. Ehsaas Kafaalat Program :

The Ehasas Kafalat is another program on the updated list of Ehsaas Programs. It is initiated by the government to support deserving women in Pakistan financially. In this program, the stipend of Rs. 2,000 and bank accounts are given to deserving and poor women all over the country.
